MASSAGE THERAPY


There is unlimited potential in Massage Therapy. It all depends on how hard you are willing to work. On the average a one hour massage will run $40 to $60.00. You can do one of two things. You can own your own Massage Therapy practice or you can work for an already established Massage Therapy firm, a chiropractic office, day spa, etc. Your future is literally in your hands.
 

   
BASIC 500 HOUR PROGRAM DETAILS

500 HOUR BASIC LICENSING PROGRAM
This is the minimum requirement for licensure.

You are eligible to apply for licensure after Successful Completion of massage therapy studies program in a 500-hour minimum, supervised course of instruction provided by a massage therapy instructor at a massage school, a licensed massage school, a state-approved educational institution, or any combination of instructors or schools, in which at least:

200 hours of Swedish massage
50 hours of anatomy
25 hours of physiology
50 Kinesiology
40 Pathology
20 hours of hydrotherapy
45 hours of business practices
and professional ethics
20 hours of health and hygiene, CPR
50 hour internship

ESSENTIALS 675 LICENSING PROGRAM
This Essentials program goes one step further. This program takes the basics of Swedish Massage and adds an elements individuality and experience. This program offers the additional training and hands on experience with the student who wants to stay ahead of the game even before graduating. After you graduate you will be one step ahead of the minimum requirement graduates. This puts you on a level playing field with therapists who have been licensed and practicing for years. 

In addition to the Base 500 hour program (as described above) 175 hours of Advanced Clinical Application is part of the package.  You will be able to obtain vast amounts of hands on experience with clients.

Massage is such a powerful tool it can affect blood flow, the nervous system, muscles, and many other systems of the body. There are at least 80 different types of massage. They range from soft and soothing to intense and active. It involves applying pressure to the soft tissues of the body, such as the muscles and pressure points. It has been proven to help reduce tension and pain, while improving the blood flow, and increasing relaxation. Massage is usually applied by applying pressure with the hands, forearms, elbows, and even feet. There are many different types of massage but the most popular are Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue Massage. Swedish Massage is a more gentle and relaxing touch which helps to increase good blood flow, to relieve muscle aches and pains and to help relax the muscles and body. Deep tissue massage is a much more intense "workout" for the muscles. It is used to treat long lasting muscle tension. These movements are applied slow but with added pressure.
